New York City Mayor Eric Adams brought back to the city a series of musical events and concert series called "Rise Up NYC”. This Summer, New Yorkers enjoyed eight free community concerts that was performed across all five boroughs. This was the second season for this highly anticipated concert series. The concert series’ aim was to bring people together through music and to encourage New Yorkers to explore all corners of the city.
The “Rise Up NYC” concert series ran from July 19th through August 20th. The concerts featured a diverse lineup of artists and musicians from various genres and backgrounds. Artist lineups included R&B artists K. Michelle, Stokley, Celebrity DJ’s Funk Master Flex and DJ Hollywood, Caribbean artists Luciano, Ding Dong, Farmer Nappy, Pumpa, Edwin Yearwood, Bobby Konders and Jabba and Shamah Levy, Hip Hop pioneers Sugar Hill Gang, R&B group Hi-Five, and the legendary and iconic R&B and soul singer/songwriter Stephanie Mills.
“We’re all excited for New Yorkers to gather together again and partake in the music and culture that keeps our city moving,” said Mayor Adams. “‘Rise Up NYC’ is not only giving all New Yorkers access to free, safe concerts, but is also giving New Yorkers another way to enjoy the city we call home. Music and the arts are a lifeline for our city, and we are going to hit the right notes and turn the dial up to 11 this summer. We invite all New Yorkers to join us to celebrate the energy of New York City through the shared love of music.”
Such events like “Rise Up NYC” concert series can be a powerful way to unite people, celebrate the city's vibrant cultural scene, and promote positive change. They may also serve as a source of entertainment and inspiration for those attending.
