The 2024 BMI Country Awards,
held on November 19th, 2024, was a
night to remember, as Randy Owen of
the legendary band Alabama was
celebrated with the prestigious BMI
Icon Award. The annual ceremony, now
in its 72nd year, took place in
Nashville, where BMI’s President &
CEO Mike O’Neill and Nashville’s VP
of Creative Clay Bradley hosted a
glittering event that also recognized the
top songwriters, songs, and publishers
in country music.
Randy Owen joins the ranks of
illustrious BMI Icons like Dolly
Parton, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson,
and Toby Keith, honored for shaping
the landscape of music across
generations. A tribute to Owen featured
stellar performances, beginning with
Riley Green’s soulful rendition of “My
Home’s in Alabama.” Luke Bryan
delivered a heartfelt take on “Feels So
Right,” while Blake Shelton closed the
segment with a rousing version of
“Mountain Music,” leaving the
audience in awe of Owen’s enduring
legacy.
